What is SPiRE?
SPiRE is an organization of students and Fellows at the Meakins-Christie Labs whose aim is it is to welcome new recruits to life at the Meakins, defend members rights and organize a variety of activities throughout the year (more info).

Site News & Web Tips: SPiRE Correspondence, Browsing & Email
SPiRE sends out periodic emails and reminders throughout the year. This is done to keep all members informed of what's going on or to make sure everyone gets a critical piece of news. All official SPiRE email is sent from

To receive our emails, make sure to put the address in your safe email list and make sure to check your junk mail folder in case they get there by accident.
Now some tips to be safe on the Net:
For browsing the internet and sending/receiving emails, we recommend a few good products that are completely free, less prone to security issues, easy to use and customize, and include the tools needed to easily migrate all your current favorites/bookmarks and emails to them. Both products are available for Windows, Mac and Linux.
For browsing the web, we recommend Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
For an email client, we recommend Mozilla Thunderbird (unless you use some form of web-based email, like Gmail, in which case you don't even use an email client).
